| Hi, My name is Jewel! I can't believe how my life just
started a month ago!! Actually, I'm about 10 years old, but I'd
rather forget all that time before. The day my previous
owner (and I use the term loosely) turned me in to a vet because I was
old and she was done with me, was the luckiest day of my life.
When the vet did my physical, she found I was full of puppies.
She didn't think I was up to whelping another litter and taking care of
them, so mercifully they spayed me. I had the beginnings of 12
puppies inside me! It makes me tremble all over again to think
what would have happened if . . . . .
Since I was used strictly for
production purposes, I didn't have a lot of human contact. I am
shy and have a "safe place" I go when things get too scary for me, but
I am learning to enjoy having my foster parents pet and love on
me. I've learned it's OK to take a treat from a person's hand and
enjoy it!
I'm up to date on all my
vaccines, heartworm negative and healthy now that I have good care and
good food. I'm crate-trained and house-trained too! Not bad
for a senior citizen! If you talk to my foster mom about me, she
can share some of the pictures that were taken before I was taken into
rescue. Foster mom says they break her heart. I sure hope
she heals OK. I like it when she brushes me.
I would love to find a quiet
home to live out my life as the pampered princess I have waited to
be. A doggie sister or brother would be great. Cats aren't
worth my time, but they're OK too. Talk to you soon.
