Meeka

Hi! My name is Meeka! I am an 11 year old gal that is thrilled to be in a foster home. When I disappeared from my home, my family didn't even notice I was gone. That should tell you a little bit about my previous life!! Now I have other dogs to play with and a nice comfy spot in the house to sleep at night. I didn't get to spend much time in the house before, so this is excellent. The part that really has me bummed now is that just when I finally land in a really great place, I have a couple of issues we need to deal with. The vet did a blood test and I failed. He said I am heartworm positive. Then they showed me this lump on my tummy and said it was a possible mammary tumor. Oh, and did I mention that I have never been spayed. Foster mom told me that in rescue terms, I am what they call a "train wreck." The good part is she promises to love me anyway. In fact, since the chances are slim to nearly none that anyone else would like a train wreck like me, they told me I am welcome to stay as long as I like - even forever! Meeka is a very sweet girl and sticks close to her people. She is an easy dog to have around. We are only sorry we didn't get her earlier in her life so she could enjoy all of the comforts of a loving family for many years. Meeka was not given regular vet care or placed on heartworm preventative. Being intact and not spayed most likely contributed to her mammary tumor. We are in the process of determining a course of care for Meeka to assure that her last years are as happy and comfortable as possible. She is very easy to love.
