| Hi, My name is Robbie!
Robbie is a sweet and
lovable keeshond looking for a new family to love. His
approximate birthdate is 11-98. He was picked up by a local
shelter as a stray and turned over to us. We found that Robbie
had cataracts which had developed to a point where he probably only saw
shadows. He was evaluated and found to be a good surgical
candidate. In the summer of 2005, Robbie had cataract surgery and
can now see. He's having a great time with his newly restored
vision. Following his surgery, we noticed Robbie began having weight loss. While he needed to lose several pounds, his rate of loss was concerning. Robbie was evaluated and it was discovered he had medication-induced diabetes from the Prednisone he had to take after eye surgery. This was a blow to all of us that had worked so hard to give this guy back a normal life. The good news is that Robbie is now well regulated on insulin twice daily and is his normal happy and bouncy self. Robbie is one of those kees that loves to play with other dogs, is perpetually happy, and wants to be by your side. Robbie is housebroken, crate-trained, UTD on vaccines, heartworm negative, neutered, and ready for his furever home. In addition to his daily insulin, he receives maintenance eye drops. He's such a good boy for both medications since he knows the treat follows! He will need to have an annual exam by a ophthalmic veterinarian to assure his new lenses are in optimal shape. If you have a place in your heart and home for sweet boy that deserves a loving home, please contact us about Robbie. Robbie loves all people and all things, including kids, cats, and other dogs. For some reason he is especially playful with smaller dogs. For more information on Robbie contact Judy at jahintzie@sunflower.com |
